Maake Magazine / Issue Two / 2016
IN ISSUE TWO of Maake Magazine we explore the effects and limitations of information in relation to the aesthetic experience of visual artwork. Written text, biographical information, labels, titles, media, bylines, artist photos and more can shape the way we process and respond to a work. In this issue we analyze these effects by limiting the interference of data between the viewer and the work on the printed page. In addition, our DIY Analysis word puzzles provide another avenue for contemplating the translation of visual languages to text. Biographical information for each work and the web address for each artist can be found in the Index. In addition to the interviews included in this issue, full-length interviews with each of the featured artists, and a gallery of their work is included on the Maake website. Issue Two is 78 pages, perfect bound, 70# uncoated interior stock, 100# uncoated cover stock.
